Unit 2 includes individuals employed as:
- Sessional Faculty,
- MELD Faculty, and
- Hourly Rated Sessional Music Faculty
Sessionals are provided with a number of benefits under the Unit 2 Collective Agreement, including a $500/academic year Health Care Spending Account, Travel Insurance, and access to a Professional Development Fund.
Sessional Faculty who hold seniority in CUPE 3906, Unit 2, have access to training through the MacPherson Institute for Leadership, Innovation and Excellence in Teaching (MIIETL). Click here for the information on training access for Sessional Faculty through MIIETL.
Sessional Faculty also have the right to request additional TA support for their course. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to contact us.
Sessional Faculty and MELD Faculty work 238 hours per 3.0 credit (or per course offering for MELD sessionals) as a result of the Employment Insurance Memorandum of Settlement. This document outlines the number of hours reported on your Record of Employment for EI eligibility purposes. It also outlines the process for applying to have the number of reported hours amended. Please note that requests for hour amendments (especially if you’re teaching the course for the first time, have limited TA support, etc…) must be submitted within 30 days of the of the last class (this provision was bargained into 8.05 (b) of the new collective agreement).
