November 8th at 1pm: Workers’ Rights Seminar for International Students

Are you an international student and worker (working inside or outside of McMaster)? Do you have questions about your rights? Join us on Tuesday, November 8th at 1pm, online and in-person in MDCL 3020 for a free workers’ rights seminar with immigration lawyer, Andrew Koltun. Ask questions and learn all about: the dangers of studying only part-time, recent changes in working hour restrictions, the impact of strikes on immigration status, and anything else you might want to know about.

November 10th at 6pm: Strike Committee Meeting

Following the recent strike vote, in which Unit 1 members voted 90% in favour of strike action if necessary, strike preparations are underway. Please join us for the next meeting of the Strike Committee on Thursday, November 10th at 6pm on Zoom. The Strike Committee will be responsible for ensuring we have a safe and effective strike and will make important decisions about picket schedules and duties, hardship fund regulations, and other important matters. November 15th at 1pm: General Membership Meeting

Meetings of the General Membership are the highest authority in the union. Beginning in Fall 2022, the union will host its GMM’s in a hybrid format. Zoom registration will be required regardless of whether you plan to attend in person or online. In the event that an election is held in the meeting, balloting will occur over the Zoom platform, so it is also essential that all in-person attendees bring a device that is compatible with Zoom’s polling feature. If you want to attend in person, we’ll be meeting in MDCL 3020Masks will be required.
