January 18th at 1pm on Zoom: General Membership Meeting

We will host our first GMM of the Winter semester on January 18th at 1pm. The meeting will take place online over Zoom. We have some important business to take care of, including elections to fill the following positions: Recording Secretary, Chief Steward Unit 1 (TAs/RAs), CUPE Ontario Convention Delegate (8 positions), and CUPE Ontario University Workers Coordinating Committee (OUWCC) Conference Delegate (5 positions).

The positions of Recording Secretary and Chief Steward Unit 1 will be held until the Annual General Meeting, to be scheduled at some point in late March or early April. Details of these positions can be found in our By-Laws.

The OUWCC Conference has been scheduled for February 23-26, 2023 at the Embassy Suites in Niagara Falls. The CUPE Ontario Convention has been scheduled for May 31-June 3, 2023 at the Sheraton Centre in Toronto. Elected delegates will have their travel expenses covered by the union.

January 20th at 1pm on Zoom: Women’s Committee Meeting

According to our By-Laws, the Women’s Committee is responsible for defending and advancing the rights and interests of women-identified members of the union. It is open to all women-identified members of the union. The committee will meet on January 20th at 1pm on Zoom. The position of Women’s Committee Chair/Co-Chairs is currently vacant.

Raise the Floor Working Group: Thursdays at 10am

The Raise the Floor Working Group was established to coordinate our ongoing campaign to fight for better funding for graduate students across McMaster, whether they are Teaching Assistants or not. The group meets every Thursday at 10am on Zoom. It is open to anyone interested in supporting the goal of improved funding, including CUPE 3906 members, graduate and undergraduate students, faculty, staff, and other community members at McMaster and beyond.

Communications Committee: Alternating Thursdays at 1:30pm

The Communications Committee is responsible for overseeing the union’s communications strategy, including raising awareness of the union and its initiatives within the membership and across the campus. It is open to all members of CUPE 3906. The Communications Committee meets every other Thursday at 1:30pm on Zoom. The meeting schedule for the Winter 2023 semester is: Jan 26Feb 9Mar 2Mar 16Mar 30, and Apr 13.
