Dear Sessional Faculty, Hourly-Rated Sessional Music Faculty, and MELD Sessional Faculty (Unit 2 Members),

RE: Election of Unit 2 Bargaining Team Alternate

WHEN: Nominations open now and close at 5 P.M. on Monday, May 18th, 2020!  Election to take place from 12 PM on May 20 to 12 PM on May 21.

As you likely know, the Collective Agreement that outlines your workplace protections and benefits as a Sessional Faculty, Hourly Rated Sessional Music Faculty, and/or MELD Sessional Faculty member (Unit 2 Member) is set to expire at the end of August 2020.

While Unit 2 Members elected bargaining team members at a GMM in the Winter term, one position remained vacant. Thus, in the interest of filling our team prior to the start of negotiations, we are now facilitating an election for the position of a Bargaining Team Alternate.  Please see below for details about the position and instructions for nominations.

Bargaining Team Alternate Position Description

The Bargaining Team Alternate steps in for elected full Bargaining Team Members in the event that a member cannot attend a bargaining and/or bargaining caucus session.  The Alternate has a voice but no vote when all elected full Bargaining Team members are present, and has voice and vote when an elected full Bargaining Team member is absent.   Alternates attend Bargaining Team meetings on the same basis and receive the same honorarium ($300 monthly) as full elected Bargaining Team Members.  Once elected, the Alternate joins the team immediately.
